Pramipex is the drug used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease as well as for the treatment of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). The active ingredient present in this drug is Pramipexole. It is used to treat the symptoms of the Parkinson’s like shakiness, stiffness and difficulty moving etc.
Pramipex is approved for use in the treatment of Parkinson’s. The drug is only effective in reducing the severity of symptoms brought on by Parkinson’s disease. Pramipex does not cure the disease. Pramipex helps the brain to function better and is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and poor muscle control.
Do not take this drug if you: are allergic to this drug or any of the other ingredients of Pramipex, are pregnant, are breastfeeding or planning to breast feed, have narcolepsy, an enlarged prostate, are under 18 years of age, have urinary problems, have severe bladder infection.
Tell your doctor if you: have blood pressure kidney problems, have serious mental problem, have serious heart complaint, have excessive tremors or Dyskinesia.
Pramipex dosage may depend on a range of factors like age, sex, drug allergies, or seriousness of the condition among several other factors. Your dosage will be determined by your doctor after examining you properly. Remember to follow your doctor’s advice properly for best results. Always take Pramipex dose as prescribed by the doctor only. Never change the dosage, start, or stop using Pramipex without doctor’s permission. Always complete the dose.
Swallow the tablet with one glass full of water. Do not break the tablet. Take Pramipex exactly as directed. Pramipex should be combined with well balanced calorie controlled diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables. If the tablet is taken without food then it is more likely that you may feel sick or nauseated.
Take the tablet at the same time each day, so as to avoid forgetting the dose. This should become a habit for you to take the tablet until the doctor tells you to stop Pramipex.
Pramiprex controls Parkinson's disease but does not cure it. Take the drugs as long as your doctor recommends you to take it.
Too much of the Pramipex may cause poisoning effects. You may require urgent medical help in this situation. In such a case visit nearest healthcare center or call your doctor immediately.
In case you forget to take the dose, skip the dose and take the next dose on the recommended time period. Do not double up the dose for the missed one.
Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of the following: hallucinations, headaches, nausea, stomach pain, heart burn, swelling of legs, vomiting, fatigue, high blood pressure, mild drowsiness or sleepiness, weight loss.
